Youth Jazz Ensemble

The Bloomingdale School of Music is excited to launch our Youth Jazz Ensemble this Fall. The ensemble will perform music from the Great American Songbook, as well as diverse musical selections from across the globe.

Ideal for high school and middle school students who enjoy playing in a group.

What you will learn

The group is open to young musicians (ages 12-18) who are excited to explore collaborative music-making. The ensemble will perform regularly at the newly renovated Bloomingdale School of Music performance hall. Participants will play the music of Charlie Parker, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and more. The weekly ensemble will be directed by saxophonist Daniel Bennett. Participants are encouraged to take private lessons.

Collaborative Jazz

Students will work together in ensemble to build up repertoire, improvisation skills and learn classic jazz form.

SOCIAL ENSEMBLE

Get to know other singers from the school while learning music together in a fun setting.

Performance Opportunities

The Youth Jazz Ensemble will have the opportunity to perform for family and friends at least once a semester.
