SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN & TEENS
Summer Piano Intensive
The Summer Piano Intensive is an immersive program offering piano students the opportunity to participate in a collaborative and performance-focused learning experience. This one-week intensive will be led by BSM’s piano faculty, in collaboration with the Summer Strings Intensive. Participants aged 8-16 with at least one year of prior piano experience welcome. Students will be divided into groups according to age and level.
The program will be conducted at the Bloomingdale School of Music, with a daily schedule running from 9 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 7-11-2025.

What you will learn
Participants will explore a broad range of techniques and repertoire alongside their peers through a daily regimen of interactive workshops, chamber music, guided and collaborative practice, master classes and a half-day field trip! The intensive will culminate in a student concert open to all participants.
*All participants must have a minimum of one year of experience on their instrument.
INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS
Faculty will lead workshops exploring diverse musical genres, playing techniques, and historical performance practice where participants will participate in discussion and practical application of musical concepts on the piano.
CHAMBER MUSIC
Participants of similar levels of experience will perform in smaller chamber groups that will be actively coached by faculty.
MASTERCLASSES
Each participant will take part in an intensive masterclass with a member of the faculty, an invaluable experience that combines live instruction and coaching with the experience of performing in front of an audience.
MUSIC THEORY
Participants will expand their knowledge of the building blocks of music through dedicated theory sessions with an eye toward practical application on the keyboard.
GUIDED PRACTICE
Every participant will participate in dedicated guided practice sessions with members of Bloomingdale’s piano faculty.
